    ok so i dont have a problem getting video on the television, but how can i get sound comming from the speakers on tv instead of the laptop?

    actually, the dell 700m doesn't support digital audio.
    You'll have to get 2 male analog (like the one at the end of headphones) and plug one in to the laptop on the headphone section, and plug the other male end to the receiver. You might need a converter. I wish I knew the name to the parts, but I've been up for 46hrs and I'm forgetting things. LoL
