    Hello,

[edit] title says LCD but i meant screen assembly [edit]

I used the search but found no thread that answered this, so I am asking your expert advice please

I have an Inspiron 8200 with a 15" screen, the screen is damaged, can i remove the entire screen assembly (bezel, screen, hinges, and ribbon cable) and replace with a 14.1 screen assembly from an inspiron 8000?

I know its a downgrade, but I know someone with an Inspiron 8000 with a bad MB, and i can get his 14.1" screen for free

My 8200 has been a real champ, no issues until my girlfriend threw something at me and cracked my screen, so i really wanna keep it running if possible, and i dont have the ~$100+ to get another 15" on eBay

thanks in advance for your answer, and yes... i did break up with her, after all.. the Inspiron 8200 had been working hard for me for 5 years, and she was only around for 2 months, didn't shed a tear when she left but oh how i cried when she busted my screen

    Thanks,
    Brad

If the fixtures and fittings for the 8200 and 8000 screen are the same, then you can do it. You also have to remember that the display connector has to be the same for the display to work.
