Great forum! This is my first post.
I've reformatted and repartitioned a lot of desktop machines, but never a notebook. The only desktop I've ever had trouble with was a Dell Dimension (most of the others I built myself from the motherboard up). But the Dell seemed very picky about the order of drivers.
I had trouble with the sound card, which I eventually sorted out. But the TV tuner app. was the really tough nut.
I have an E1705 on the way (should arrive tomorrow or Tues), and I would like to start with a clean slate. But I'm a little concerned about getting the TV tuner app back working. Anybody had any trouble with this?
I probably won't be able to start immediately because I only requested all the CDs from Dell a couple days ago and I doubt if they'll be here in time. The email I got from them was just hilarious! They don't normally send the disks because they are so "planet friendly" but because I'm such a "preferred customer" they'll make an exception and send them to me. I'll be surprised if all everything I need gets here an the first go, but as long as everything not downloadable makes it, I'll be ok.
If anyone has any words of advice on the tuner reinstall, I'd appreciate it.

I haven't seen too many problems with the tuner reinstall. Really all that matters is that you install these three first (and in this order):
BIOS
Notebook System Software
Chipset + Ricoh
Then you can install the remaining drivers. If you have the Advance Audigy software for your audio, you must install the Sigmatel driver and then the Advancy Audigy. I haven't seen to many problems with the TV tuner at least with the ones that are ordered with the laptops.

Thanks, SG You're the best!!
I'm going to give it a shot. I do have the Audigy. Course, I'm not sure when I'll get everything here. I was checking the tracking. System went from Reno to Anchorage no problem. One plane ride away from where I am. Now the tracking is telling me it arrived in Memphis TN????
I chatted with Dell (actually with Rajnesh--like he even knows where Anchorage or Memphis are). Waste of time. I'm sure it will get here eventually. -
LOL, try checking your shipper's website. Once it goes into UPS/Fedex/DHL's hands, Dell doesn't track it anymore. You should have received an email with a tracking number. If not, you can probably get it by logging into your dell account on the web.
