Yes, all m1530's come standard with a fingerprint scanner.

And for the screen, I would imagine a 1680 x 1050 resolution on a 15.4 screen, is like viewing 1080p on a 40" tv. So yea, it's good enough.

If you watch bluray on a screen size on 15.4" you will not be able to tell the difference compared to DVD. You really need to have something of 32"+ to see the difference, although it does depend how far away you sit from the screen.

You could hook the M1530 to a big tv using the HDMI port tho as it can kick out 1080p I believe, this is the only way you can really justify paying the extra for the bluray drive.

If you're getting the blu-ray drive you're looking to use it for its increased storage capacity discs or if your making video discs then you have a high def tv 32"+. As others have mentioned... really tough to see the blu-ray difference on a 15.4" screen.

you def can't see the diff on a 15.4in screen

but the blu-ray burners are nice for reasons as stated above. Those saying you can see the diff need to watch blu-ray on a 32 or larger hi-def screen--> fantastic!!

The reason I got the bluray is so that I can play any type of DVD on the road and use it as an external player in case. I also have a PS3 but I can't drag that around. I haven't tried connecting the PS3 if it can play video games.
