question regarding vostro 1400

Is vostro came ready to use right out of the box or do i have to install some hardware or software? And can i request my copy of vista even though its only home basic. btw am expecting mine 4th of sept as its been shipped

 

I don't have my Vostro 1400 yet (it's being built at the moment), but I tend to do a ton of reading before and after I buy anything. Someone please feel free to correct me.

Vista and any software you requested + a couple things you diden't will be on the laptop right when you turn it on...as with any Dell computer unfortunately (though, the vostro lets you chose to get rid of some stuff before getting it which is very nice in my opinion).

And can i request my copy of vista even though its only home basic. --
It seems people are saying that not everyone got a restore disc or anything from dell, but if they called them up Dell was more than happy to send them a restore disc. I'm assuming this restore disc is just like a normal Vista or XP disc, but with some extra dell stuff (I hope, because I plan on re-partioning and dual-booting gentoo linux on mine...if it's a restore disc I don't care, but as long as I can select the partion I'm fine.).

Mine isn't even suppose to ship till the 10th!!!!!!!!
