Hey guys, just got a e1405. specs are: T72 Core2Duo, 100 gb hdd 7200 rpm, 2 gigs or ram, and just about everything else that comes w/the e1405. no grapics card though :( . my questions:

    1. i wanna reinstall media, and have the cd provided by dell but what else do i need and what do i have to do?
    2. i've checked my control panel and cpu-z and it says its a T72, but it doesn't show the 2nd core. Pic below shows what i'm talking about. how come it won't show the 2nd core?

When you say you want to reinstall media, I assume you intend to eliminate all the bloatware and reinstall Windows XP Media Center Edition. Assuming that's the case... go here and or here

    1. Do you mean you want to reinstall Windows XP or MediaDirect ?

    2. Do you see two processor graphs in Task Manager > Performance tab ? If it doesn’t then something has gone wrong with Windows ACPI configuration. It might be that Windows has not correctly installed ACPI Multiprocessor PC HAL (Hardware abstraction layer). If that is the case then you may have to do a repair reinstall of Windows XP. But if you have the pre-installed DELL Windows installation then this shouldn’t happen.

    3. A noise that stops when you move the screen is weird. Are you sure it is the hard disk ? not the DVD rom or a fan ?
