I finally got to see one in person and thought it was pretty nice.
anyone know who the manufacturer is for the M1210 screen (which model)
and what the response time is?

HP notebooks have the best screens for PCs in my opinion by far. Apple also has nice screens but thats Apple..

Dell uses 3 brands of LCDs for the M1210:

    With A/V package - AUO
    Without A/V package - Samsung, Toshiba-Matsushita

its ironic that not getting the a/v package gives you a better screen.

I have an AUO and its perfectly fine. Clarity and brightness are great, its definitly alot better than the 17" Dell Ultrasharp monitor I have. I dont even use that thing anymore, to blury and dim.

Nope, I've gone thru 4 M1210's with various issues..

2 A/V packages with the AOU screen and IMO, that screen was the best.

Check other boards, you'll see that most people agree.

i agree my auo is just fine, could be a tad brighter, but I use it 2-3 notches below the brightest anyways. and have it connected to an ext lcd most of the time.
