i had a relative get me a 1420 there in the states and i configured something that would cost $1700 but with the coupons i told them to use, the system would've cost $1250. now that it's ordered, he tells me that it's going to cost me $1700 with applied coupon codes. i tracked the order and saw that it had the 3 year warranty and some other unwanted warranties because i won't be able to use it here in my country. i just need the unit and nothing else. he explained to me that the warranties are mandatory when using coupon codes and shocked me because i was paying for stuff that i won't be able to use. is it true that when ordering with a coupon, the biggest warranties are automatically ordered along with the hardware?
i'm beating myself with a stick because i didn't see this coming. dang it.

False, some coupons require that the base price be of certain amount. How you increase the base price is up to you. Some go for higher configuration, some go for additional peripherals or softwares and some go for extended warranties. Your relative either doesn't know how or where to configure and apply coupons or is taking you for a ride. Ask him to call and cancel the order immediately. Alternatively, you can also chat and either cancel the order or configure it the way it should have been.
I would suggest that you create a Dell Account, configure the required system, apply coupon, save it in the cart and then give access to your relative, so he or she can complete the order by making the payment.
