Okay, I just bought my XPS 1530 and it comes with windows vista. But since most of my games especially "meet the robinsons" which I just bought recently only work with XP I'm thinking about a quick and dirty (or clean) way to install XP for my laptop and then use ghost 8.0 to switch back and forth between the two windows. Wonder if it works that way?
Are my drivers still compatible with XP? if so, what in the heck do I have to do? sorry I'm a newbie to this forum and laptops.

Most people would setup a dual boot in this situation.

what's a dual boot?

Dual boot is having both OS bootable on separate partitions. You end up with a menu of which to boot into when you power on. Google

oh that...sorry I'm not so good with all the English terms about laptop ^^. oh by the way, I need the driver for the matrix storage controller. I'm don't have one for XP. Wonder if the one the company gives me for Vista works for XP?

vnanhdo, even though you have only a single hard drive in your machine, it is possible to configure them such that they look like two "logical" hard drives, eg rather than one big 100GB drive, you could have two 50GB "logical" drives. That process is called "partitioning." After doing that, you can install different operating systems into each partition, and then have your choice to boot the system each time it starts.
Your situation is not at all uncommon. There are numerous threads here that discuss various aspects of multi-boot configurations. I'm getting ready to repartition the drive on my XPS1530 to install and evaluate XP, and I've grown less and less enthused with Vista.
The Intel Matrix Storage driver isn't really specific to one vendor's notebooks. You can go straight to Intel to get their latest one, or grab driver from Dell. I think the version for Vista is the same as the one for XP. There are a few caveats about this driver and how to get it set up for XP, so be sure to take a look for one of the threads that go into installing XP on the 1530 (or one of
several similar websites dedicated to the same topic).
Good luck!
