Ok this question sound stupid, but i recently got my 1330 replacement (first had a quite loud cpu whine and some other issues), this one has a quieter whine which is cool, however after i did a clean vista installation and did all the tweaks, with the same config i notice a slight decrease in battery life (about 30mins or so), don't know what could it be, the only difference between the 2 laptops is the BIOS version A05 vs A06, and considering the problem was caused (in Dell's word) "by the way the laptop manages the power", has Dell fixed the whine problem at a cost of a shorter battery life?

Most likely the battery you got just had a little bit worse drain on it. Generally, a notebook running quieter is using LESS power, since the whine usually comes from system fans (so a louder whine = faster-spinning fan = more power drain).

Does the screen seem BRIGHTER than your other 1330? That could cause a decrease in battery life.
