So i have an i6000 2.0ghz 128mb x300 1 gb ram 80gb 5400rpm and i tried the fan program that everyone suggested last night. fangui 19 didn't work because it is incompatible and i received an error saying that the fan can't be controlled and my fan would shut off everytime i opened it. so i got fangui18 and the same error occured. so i finally just uninstalled both of them. now, when i'm not doing anything, my cpu usage just spikes and stays at about 80% on a regular basis. i don't know if this is directly related to a bad uninstallation of fangui or what but if anyone could help that would be great.

do you koow that this wasn't happening before or could this be why the fan was acting eratic beforehand. i would scan my computer for malware and viruses as well as uninstall any unused programs.

Hey kidA, to get those fan programs working, you also have to download a program from the same site that is called something like fanio driver. That is probably why the programs wont work. By the way, does kidA have anything to do with Radiohead?

it absolutely has to do with radiohead. anyways, i got the 18kfangui to work, the source code wasn't installed. but i still don't have control over the "second fan" and i'm not sure what it is or where it is, but it's annoying to get the notice everytime

There is only one fan on the i6000. it is in the upper left corner of the notebook. Both the cpu and gpu have copper thermal channels that helps bring the heat off of the chips. There is a picture in the link below. As far as the pop up thing goes, I don't get it, I can't remember if I disabled it or perhaps my version is different, try playing around in the settings menu. Oh and by the way, Radiohead is awesome, not that you didn't already know that!!! :) :)

yeah i know theres only one fan but fangui is picking up a second fan thats set at a constant 27660 rpm and whenever it starts up i get "error cant read second fan" or whatever but it opens up multiple error boxes (12 last i checked) in a row and that i find to be obnoxious. anyway i can completely disable the "second" ghost fan?
