On an Inspiron notebook running W2KPro which I lost the user password for and which has a busted optical drive, can I re-install W2KPro from a USB pen drive and the four W2K setup/boot floppies I just got at a site? ie. will it see the USB port and the pen drive?

It all depends if the laptop itself can boot from a USB drive. Only the BIOS will tell you that.

BTW If you still know the Administrator password, then you can reset any user account.

How are you going to use those floppies ? If the notebook has a floppy drive then most likely it is too old to support USB booting.
