1)for $952? is that reasonable? that's by going through dell home and using a 20% off coupon....

    2) see anything i could improve upon or take out to save money?

    3) also for a college stdent do you think a 1 year warranty w/o complete care is fine?

btw, some of you may have seen me earlier posts about a $1,600 e1505/m1210....i thought about it and i realized that there really was no reason for me to get the higher end system. i'm using it for normal college stuff and don't plan on playing games (well, maybe a little) ...so i decided to take the more practical/cost-effective route.

I helped a buddy order one a few days ago. online with the 20% discount it was 921. well we called it in and they gave us another discount and it was like 870 something after tax. it was somethign about taking $100 off before the 20% discount VS. taking $100 off after the discount.

so you just call them up and ask for a discount? i dont know if that would work for the the system im getting because the $100 off gets deleted if you apply the 20% off coupon so its like it never existed...hmm...maybe i should just try calling.

    1) yes its a good price but...
    2) u could upgrade the memory from 512mb to at last 1 gig cause otherwise the laptop wont last u very long; and u could also upgrade the graphics card to the x1400 cause its a lot more worth it than the x1300; and u dont really need the upgraded sound software. other than that it looks good.
3)i think 1 year warranty should be fine :)

if you wont be playing games, dont waste your money on an x1400.

memory is cheap and is easy to add later.

i would stick with what ya got.
