I'm a big fan of Dell, and this m1530 is awsome. Couple of things not right.
Has a lot of static and u can hear fan or processor runnung. electric ac adaptor slips in/out - Should be a close fit between it and the laptop.
Laptop shuts down for no reason and its running a bit slow.
With a 7700 processor and 3gs memory, and vista ultimate we expected stronger performance. and, casing around 9 cell battery is loose.
oh well -- that's my update. Not the end of the world. We have a M1330
that runs real real quiet. Its bios is A06. The Bios on this one is
A05--not sure if comparison is appropriate here (w/two different computer types (1530 vs 1330). anyway 1330 is much quieter.
anyone out there have similar experience w/ac adaptor? what did u do?
i was also expecting the ac adaptor to be a 3-prong for better grounding
this one is two prong. My 1330 is three prong.
We received a second remote control and fingerprint feature (both in error.)
any feedback is appreciated. Thank you.

A05 BIOS is the latest one for M1530.
-
Also, my AC adapter is 2-prong, which I believe is standard for the M1530. (That's the problem with people getting "shocks," in my understanding. Or at least that's the claim around here. My laptop has been fine, no electrocutions so far.

thanks for your replies. Kamehame - does your ac adaptor fit pretty closely?
-
Yeah, it fits snugly.
-
i have the 3-pin adaptor - i'm in australia, so maybe dell thought only tou americans needed to be shocked...!
-
-
true true - but we here have the bonus benefit of salary sacrifice - so, depending on your tax rate, you get an instant saving from the price of the laptop!
eg if you pay 40% tax, you instantly save 40% off the price of any laptop...!
still, this only applies to laptops (and other limited items) and not to every other consumer good out there - so it's still rip-off-australia! -
achw, does your ac fit snugly?
-
it fits just nicely - not too tight, and not loose enough to easily fall out.
-
This thread is ripe for some off-color jokes. I can feel it.
-
You're all too mature. But I know you're thinking it.

got mine today too and fortunately im not having any of the common problems with it. The only problem i've run across is the bump in the keyboard near the f7/f8 keys which can be fixed easily. got XP up and running and ill have a few benchmarks a little later!
-
So i got mine today as well. And i have only the following problems, Slight hiss on the Audio jacks (have this on my Thinkpad to so i am use to it). The screen is the samsung one and it is grainy, I could live with it, but i managed to get dell to replace it, should have a Tech out here in a day or so. It is annoying. aside from that Power jack is tight and the whole thing looks great. Glad i bought this unit.

Net Net, looks like its been a good day for Dell.
Glad u'r all happy w/ur new 1530's. and, thanks for your repies to thread. -
I also thought the AC adapter plug could fit a bit more tightly. It's not really loose but it comes out a bit too easily, I just worry eventually it would get worse with plugging it in and out.
-
Vyliss, i wouldn't worry about u'r ac power jack unless something happens then let Dell know. In my opinion Dell is very reasonable when it comes
to problems. what alerted me is my laptop keeps turning off and on and
the battery is not charging (as well as obviously the ac is too loose).
stay in touch w/Dell.
