anyone buy a scratch and dent? If so, how bad was the flaw? They seem to be slightly better priced than the refurbs with the same options...

Scrath and dent is decent, I have friends that bought those. They usually have like a scratch on the top or something small. I would buy one if I needed a good laptop that is out of my price range.

Some of them are also systems that shipped to people that they shipped back and didn't want. Those too are good. :)

Where can you pick up a "scratch and dent" laptop? Never seen a store advertise them, or a site either. Might be worth looking into, scratches can be re-filled/re-painted.

Yes, all laptops have that. I think it is included because of Dells billing stuff LOL

I just got mine delivered yesterday. XPS M140 (1.86, 80gig, 9 cell, 2200 wireless, 512 ram, XP home) for $736 shipped. It even came with truelife which wasn't listed in the original description when I bought it. I love this thing. Now my fiance wants me to buy her one since she now says that her i6000 I got her 2 months ago is too heavy.

I just got mine delivered Today. It is absolutely fantastic so far...night and day difference in size from my HP Dv4170us laptop...easily a pound lighter, and much easier to carry around. The TrueLife screen is hands down the best I have looked at, with the only screen that it doesn't beat being the Sony XBrite screens.

I am very very pleased with my decision to purchase from the Dell Outlet, and they even already shipped me the Operating System and Software discs (actually got here before the laptop did).

The laptop stays suprisingly cool for being so small, and is very very quiet.

Good luck to everyone who got one and I hope you enjoy it as much as I am enjoying mine!

Wow, that doesn't sound like a bad deal at all. I'm not much of a Dell fan, but for those specs...and 6+ hr. battery life of the 9-cell, might be worth it.

I will tell you it was quite an ordeal for me, being anal compuslive and all...I kept thinking I could do better on price for the last 5 days but I started to find less and less truelifes with the specs I wanted under 800....there were a lot of 9 cell batteries also but I really wanted to start with the 6 for weight and size and if I need bigger, I'll hit ebay later....I'm sure we will all be happy with this machine....this is the biggest purchase I've ever made without seeing one in person....and that's because I signed up here and got some great advice...thank you all....especially Southern girl for putting up with my newbie questions.....
