i was wondering if anyone had experiences with dell replacement? I had my xps m1210 replaced and they told me it would take 5-7 business days to get me my replacement. its been almost 2 weeks now and i havnt recieved it. i just talked to them today and they apologized and said that i should recieve it within the next 5 business days. now, i was wondering if the replacements always come exactly as the old laptops are? or might i find some upgraded parts in them? was hoping for a core 2 duo, since they made me wait so long... or they probably just have a stock of old processors left... anyways, hope you guys could give me a little insight on how the dell replacement goes. thanks for any help

Welcome to why Dell's service is less than stellar :) Your replacement could be a refurb, could be many things. Best advice is to check it out thoroughly right when you receive it, test the video card, etc. I'd really doubt that they'd randomly upgrade you without you specifically asking for it, especially depending on what was wrong with it initially. I'm also not sure on Dell's "lemon" policy.

well, i got it from dells outlet refurbished, so i wouldnt really mind another refurb... the case on my old one wasnt put together correctly and the whole left side was loose. i still have the old one. they said to ship it back once i recieve my replacement, which they said would be of similar specs. so, would they just take a refurb and change the specs to the ones i have now? or are they actually building me a new one... as it has taken a while for them to ship it.
i also asked them if they could upgrade the parts. but they said a replacement comes exactly as the old one

you'll get close to what you got now, most likley will have better parts because they would use what they have avaliable, but some parts m,ay not be. though i can't see anything being worse

Just had a system exchange. Everything worked as planned. Received the same specs, brand new just like they said, and arrived on the exact estimated date. Maybe because I live in Canada. My other system order was quite accurate too (just off by a day)
