    replacing hard drive question

    Afriend told me that in Dell laptops you cant replace the hard drive with a drive that you bought from a store ( compusa) and that it has to be a Dell hard drive etc.
    i think its bull****

    You can... as long as it is a 2.5" HD. The only down-side is that it won't be supported under the warranty and ideally you should reinstall the OS (chipset drivers can conflict and crap).

    You also should match your interface, SATA, PATA etc. You most likely have SATA but check to be certain before you buy. Also if you buy Acronis True Image then you can clone your hard disc and it will transfer all of the drive as an image and you should be good to go.
