do i just simply swap the cards? i heard the intel next gen card needs three antennas is this true? and are drivers available for vista home premium on an inspiron 1520? would i be getting better range than my dell 10$ card? and last how much would one cost? If someone could take a picture it would help a lot because the inpiron is color coded where the intel card is number coded so i dont know where the wires go. Thanks :)

Well Dell cards are known to be unreliable. You can basically just swap cards reinstall drivers etc. The inspiron 1520 already has 2 extra antanaes just use the dark grey one for N. The other wires just hook up to the same spots on the intel as the dell? not sure.
