okay so i am so stupid i flashed my video card with the instructions at http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=64385
then afterward i learn that the reason the screen is black is because i flashed it with the wrong rom (there was no warning on the page for this)
okay so now i have to restore the old one.. i followed the instructions on page 39 of that thread but it fails to work. i also somehow got windows to show a blue screen of death when i failed one time to open the boot menu

is there another way i can do this without calling dell or buying a new graphics card? or did i spend a very large sum of money on something that will no longer work? sorry about the other thread.

    :'(

i have not passed the 21 day time slot in which i can return the product.. will i be able to return it?

Sounds like you bricked your system. A word to the wise, never oc laptops. Even if you know what you are doing you can cause serious damage and sometimes that can void your warranty. I would call them and try to get a replacement laptop and hope they don't figure out what you did.

NO WARNING ? DUH  ! Certainly shows that you have no idea what a BIOS upgrade means! Overclocking/modding is very dangerous if you don’t know what you are doing, you should always understand the risks and the ways to recover if something goes wrong BEFORE doing it.

Legally and morally it is wrong to return it. Warranty or return policies don’t cover these types of damages. But as Wingsbr said, they might not notice what you did. It is up to you to decide whether you should let DELL take the fall for your fault (you broke it).

I would just act like an idiot (though no offense but I think you are quite a big one in this case) and just say your computer isnt working. You dont have to lie, just act dumb. Im like 99.999% sure they will have someone swap it out for a new one. I think Dell can reuse the old one. They can probably reprogram the bios chip.

Anyway if you dont fully understand something DONT DO IT.
