Has anyone had to return their cds or replacement parts in order to avoid charges? On all my packing slips, its says that I must return my items in order avoid charges (even my OS, driver and extras CDs).
Thanks,
Amber

I would think that's if you're returning the entire system. In other words, if you return the computer, be sure to return all the disks to avoid charges.
-
I thought about that too. These were items that I received separately, and according to tech support now, I have to return them or I'll have to pay.
I had to replace my keyboard already, so I understand sending that back. I don't get why I have to send my system CDs back. -
cant you jut copy them? and then send them back, which is rediculous. I called and they sent mine out at no charge and I recieved them in like three days.

I think its ridiculous too if i have to burn them. They are quick about getting the parts to you. I received mine in the same amount of time you did.
This is so ridiculous. Everything was covered under warranty and tech support never mentioned anything about returning them or charges.
Full refund means that when you return an item, you'll receive the same amount of money you paid. -
My understanding is that the CDs you requested from Dell is free of charge and for you to keep. When I asked mine, the Dell tech told me that if I received any bills regarding those CDs (OS & drivers), just ignore them.

Amber,
What are you doing? Are you sending it back completely or just for the keyboard?

I'm sending the keyboard back, which i was going to anyways. They want my OS & drivers cd also. Basically, you get 10 days from when you received them, then you have to send them in or you'll receive an invoice for payment (which I did).
Right now I've gotten out of sending my OS & the rest of the CDs back.

So far this is what I've figured out.
When you receive parts/disks...whatever it is, on the packing slip if there is a return label, then you are to return the bad part or the disks you received. Several days after you receive your parts, you'll receive an invoice thru the mail. On the invoice it states you have 10 days to return, or you will have to pay. I'm guessing after 10 days, you get no second chance.
When I got my keyboard (no mention that i needed to send back the old one), i did the repairs myself. Within 5 days, I had an invoice stating that I had 10 days to send it back or I would be charged.
The CD situation is just strange. When I requested, there was no mention that I needed to send them back. Then after I received them, I noticed the packing slip with return label. I called Tech Support to verify that I was allowed to keep them. First two techs said that eventhough i had not been told about returning them, I had no choice and had to return the cds. Third tech said that since my backup utility wasn't working, I could keep it.
What a mess...

P.S. I knew about it, but I was looking on someone else's profile, so I didn't notice that my rights had gotten changed. []

The keyboard was easy to change. Instructions are on the site plus in the kit they send you, but you really don't need them. Yes they are requesting that I send the bad keyboard in, which I can understand.
In a separate request, they were asking for the CDs.
Sorry for the confusion.
