So it looks like I will have to buy a 710M as no other manufacturer can offer these kind of specs, albeit the 855 chipset. It is currently on sale in Canada until the 19th and I want to take advantage of this for obvious reasons. But can someone enlighten me on how Dell works in terms of sales. Since I wasn’t considering Dell during the majority of my research stage I did not monitor their pricing and sales pattern.
The sales ends on the 19th, hence logic dictates I act before that date. But I also work in for a retail outfit and know that sometimes sales end dates are pretty dubious. Other times, there are much better sales later on. I am happy with the sale price of the 710M now and would love to get it even cheaper but it if the price does not drop further, no problem. Since I’m in no rush to get this notebook, is it safe to wait and see if the price drops in a month or two, and still fall back on a reoccurrence of the current sale, or does Dell only rarely repeat sales?

Since late in 2004, Dell has always had big coupons and sales. They are notorious for it. The regular good coupons are usually $750 off 2000, $500 off 1500 or 1600, and something else. I don't think it matters much when you buy it, as long as you're using a coupon or sale. However, I thought buying Dells in Canada was difficult to do.

Anyway, I'm very underqualified to give this advice. I would also recommend buying once new technology comes out, like dual cores ;)
