On my Vostro 1500, I noticed that the colors look a bit washed out when I am on battery power, even if the battery has a full charge. When I am on ac power, the quality of the colors look much better, with more contrast.

Is this normal? I would be interested if this is what others see also.

The backlighting usually dims when the computer is running on battery. you can change that setting.

I understand about how the screen brightness dims a couple of notches when on battery power, but that's not the problem.

What I see on my vostro is, the colors are washed out and there is much less contrast when I am on battery power. Adjusting screen brightness on battery power does not get rid of the washed out look on the screen. I have the cheaper matt screen, if that makes a difference?

from your description, i think your playing a mind game on yourself. the quality of the screen cannot change from the settings. its either the colors look good or they don't. lol are you sure the backlight isn't tricking you

Yeah, exactly. It wont change. Set your computer to max performance ( so the brightness stays up on battery and plug in and unplug it for comparison. It wont change.)

Just encase anybody is interested. I fixed the washed out look on battery power by going to the Intel graphics settings and sliding the slider to maximum performance. Now the washed out look is no longer present on battery power.

Note: this has nothing to do with the screen brightness settings when on battery power.
It was a "low contrast issue" while on the battery, even on full brightness that was very noticeable to me.
