Hey peeps, i just got my i9300 today, and after a small scare of the monitor connection being unconnected (under the power button plastic casing) i noticed that my screen doesnt turn off when i shut the LCD lid. is this controlled by a windows system service only? or should that happen no matter what the system is doing (meaning is it software triggered or hardware triggered)?

desktop properties > screen saver > power > advanced... check your settings

I thought it was a hardware thing. Mine always goes off when I close the lid past a certain point eventhough my settings are set for it to stay on all the time.

hmm, ill go over to the dell forum and ask them...

have updated your drivers? that solved the problem in one of our archive threads.

i actually couldnt stand 55+ processes running on the default dell installation of windows, so i reinstalled windows xp pro and it shuts off when i close the lid anywhere with my system on. who knows!
screen not turning off when i shut lid?
