I'm thinking of buying an M1330. If the description on the screen says
*13.3 Inch Wide Screen WXGA TL WLED Backlit LCD with Camera*

is this the good screen or bad one?

Anything that states the letters "LED" is better then the usual CCFL crap.

I say it is a bad screen, but I like high resolution laptops. I think Dell should add a WXGA+ option. It will never happen, but I want the M1330 to have a WSXGA+ resolution screen.

    For gods sake.

YES, it's the thin and light screen and the BEST you can get for the M1330. Don't listen to that parrot there.

BTW about the resolution, I think 1280x800 is pretty good for this size screen. Hell I have seen a lot of 15.4in screens with the same resolution.

I have been using it for awhile, and everything is just right. Not too big and not too small.

And as has been stated here, that is the only option for resolution.

NO ONE has a larger res at 13" LCD. Besides, you need really sharp eyes to make out anything smaller, and let's be frank, not everyone has that :) So yeah, the parrot is being really selfish here, trying to push his values on everyone, so I say, screw the parrot and long live 1330 LCD :D

I prefer high resolution screens. I think a 14.1" laptop with WXGA+ resolution is a better screen. It was a shame when Lenovo did not release a 14.1" laptop with WSXGA+ resolution. I always recommend customers look a laptops in person before buying one.

    polly want a cracker ?

1280x800 is fine for a laptop this size... you will only notice if you get your face a few inches from the screen... and lets face it ... if you are doing that you should probably get a bigger screen not a higher res display..

I am "threadcrapping" because I disagree with you. I think higher resolution screens are better for typing documents and looking at the internet.

So you agree that you are threadcrapping? Well, then I guess it's time to alert the mods. It's fine and dandy to have your personal preference, but don't go around bashing some things only because you don't like something about them. Use a fair comparison, not your personal preferences for that.

I gave my opinion and everyone told GoTribe07 not to listen to me. So I explained why I prefer high resolution screens. I am not forcing my opinion on anyone.

That maybe true, but you can only talk about resolution in reference to screen size. What people here are saying is that for a small 13.3in screen 1280x800 is high resolution.

For a 14.1in screen or larger I would say this is medium or low resolution. But it is all relative to the screen size. My 24in monitor is 1920x1200, that does not mean I want my 13.3in screen to be 1920x1200. And in relative terms I think they are about the same resolution?

    24 / 13.3 = 1.80

    1280 * 1.8 = 2304 (vs 1920)

That is a very rough estimate, but I think that the smaller screen is already denser than my 24in monitor.

yes, you are. You are judging screen quality based on your personal preference, not fair grounds.

After looking at laptops in person, I found out changing the laptop size from a 13.3" to a 14.1" does not make much of a difference. I think WXGA+ resolution would look nice on a 13.3" laptop. Once again this is my opinion and not everyone will agree with this. I will repeat myself, I think all customers should look at a laptop in person before buying it.

Why is it unfair to voice my opinion?

Why don't we all calm down here...and get back to answering the OP's question. Otherwise I start hitting the 'delete' button on some of these posts.

Agreed, the original question was not about resolution at all. Just trying to confirm that the config came with the better LED screen. And yes it does, the "WLED Backlight" part is the key.

QFT. Some ppl just don't get it and try to turn the thread asking questions about the LCDs available on 1330 into a non-pertinent discussion - me included but I was only trying to fix it... Road to hell is paved with good intentions, indeed :)
