Bad backlight or inverter. Try replacing the inverter first, and if that doesn't work, you can consider replacing the backlight itself or the entire panel.

    Hi raysalaf58,

This could be because of the LCD or a corrupted graphic card. To isolate the issue you may try the following steps.

    • Please make sure the AC power is connected.
    • Adjust the brightness using keystrokes.
    • <Fn> and up-arrow key Increases brightness on the integrated display only (not on an external monitor).
    • Press and hold the ‘Fn’ key and turn on the system (PSA – Diagnostics) and wait till you get 2 beeps. Once you hear 2 beeps and no display on
the screen please press the key ‘N’ and see if there is any display on the Screen.
    • If the screen is fine it will display some color bars during this process.
    • When you have the external monitor connected , once you get the Windows loading sound please press Fn + F8 to check if you are getting the
display on the external monitor. If you don’t see any response on the monitor in the first attempt please try the Fn + F8 again two or three
times to check if the display is getting switched to the external monitor.
    • If the issue is only with LCD, there will be a display on the external monitor.

I hope this helps. Please do write back in case you need any further assistance.

    Thanks & Regards
    Swapnajan MC

    Hi,

This indicates that the issue is with LCD screen. If the Graphic card was faulty the image on the external monitor would also be same as the laptop display. Please consider replacing the LCD screen. Do let us know if this system is covered under the warranty.

Please do write back in case you need any further assistance.

    Thanks & Regards
