Is there any way to add the webcam to a 1500? I got it as a WSR, so no choices, but I could easily enough install one myself. Anyone know where to buy one?

All you should need is the webcam bezel plastics that encase the lcd (front and back). I would say that you would just need the front bezel, but i don't think the wiring would be there.

It would be much cheaper at this point to just go with a USB webcam. You're talking major warranty-voiding surgery on the 1500 now.

You would have to run the cable behind the LCD in the casing, then through the hinge area to the header on the motherboard, which wouldn't be easy.

I have the in screen webcam and it doesn't work. Meh. I'd go with a USB one.
