sorry if this question seems silly but I've never sold a laptop before and I'm planning on selling my xps. I currently have the warranty plan where the person comes to your HOUSE.

    P, XPS TECH SUPPORT DELL 12/24/2008 12/23/2010 486

if i sell this online does it just automatically transfer over when they enter in the service tag?

You need to transfer ownership, there is a form on the Dell website, go to the support tab, then on the left hand side under warranty information there is a link labelled "Ownership transfer". I would link you, but I don't know which country you are from.

It wouldn't really make any difference for the in-home support though, as they ask you for an address when booking the technician - it matters more when it's an international transfer.

If it is a domestic transfer, make sure you fill out the correct form.

    Regards

Yep, that's one good thing about Dell; they make ownership and warranty transfers pretty painless.

It'll be an excellent selling point, esp. to those looking for a laptop for accident prone family members (or if they tend to be a bit clumsy themselves)

Good luck with your sale! :D
