does anyone knows how to do that?
-
-
it does it automatically for you.
-
nVidia Turbocache is a dynamic memory allocation system. It is completely up to the driver to allocate memory as and when needed, you have no control over it.
-
oo i see...because in the windows experience index my graphics section is very bad (3.6) and i thought i was buying a good graphics card
-
The card is good, the "Windows Experience Index" is crap.
-
The 8400GS is by no means a 'great' graphics card, it's a decent mainstream card. The 3.6 sounds about correct, and having more Video Ram will not effect it much, if at all.
-
-
someone with intel grapics...whats your score? -
My score on a GMA950 is 3.1 for gaming and 3.2 for graphics. I thought it was very odd that the 8400M graphics score was 3.6 on my friend's Vostro 1400.
-
thats not so big difference between 8400M and the GMA950... -
-
If you really want to compare 3D performance then run a real 3D benchmark like 3DMark or a 3D game and measure average FPS. Vista experience index is not a real benchmark.
-
-
3.6 is fine for a WEI, keep in mind the maximum score you can get is 5.9 and you are well over half way there...also, remember the WEI index kept the future in mind so systems only like 3 years from now will ever get the 5.9
-
but im happy w/ my 8400m
-
3.6? That's strange. My m1330 gets a 4.0 on the WEI, but in any case the 8400m GS runs games pretty darn good enough for my tastes.
-
with X3100, 1.5G RAM, vostro 1400, i got 3.5.
-
WEI is built with the future in mind--that much you hit spot on--but not the latter statement you mentioned. Machines can hit 5.9 right now (Any of the 8800 desktop series should hit 5.9, and a OC'd 8600 GTS should be able to hit 5.9 as well), but that's not the maximum score possible. In the future, the WEI will scale up to 6.9, 7.9, etc and beyond. A WEI of 5.9 will always be 5.9, but it simply means that it's no longer the top dog later on down the line. -
I'm surprised at the score. Three reports for the M1330 with the Nvidia 8400N 128 card had the following results (I've been keeping tabs):
Graphics: 4.0, 4.0, 4.1.
Gaming graphics: 4.6, 4.6, 4.6. -
It does vary from pc to pc. I have a pair of systems at home both with similar intel 945 motherboards and gma950 graphics running vista, one scores 2.0 in graphics and the other 3.2 for some strange reason.
-
Um im quite sure after they let it go higher that 5.9 if I run teh test it will go above it.
Seeing as every component of my computer scores 5.9. I mean I hit 5.9 on everything at stock speed on a single hard drive. Now im running with teh CPU overclocked 33%, graphics card about 25%, hard drives are in raid 0. So seeing as when I cripple my PC I still get 5.9 once they let it up to 6.9 or whatever I'd say my PC's score will improve beacuse it is faster than a 5.9. -
i'm glad i found this forum, my dell inspiron 1520 with vista and nvidia 8400m gs only gets a score of at graphics 3.4, but gaming graphics 4.4
i thought the graphics was a bit low, especially after testing another inspiron 1520 with intel x3100 and getting a higher score for graphics of 3.5! but it's gaming graphics is lower.
i have come to the conclusion that either the nvidia drivers are terrible, or more likely that windows experience rating is crap.
both laptops were purchased in last four months, was expecting a better score, especially with nvidia inside. -
I tell you whats weird and a bit off topic
I upgraded my ram, same ram as well so they match and my score went from a 5.3 to a 5.0?
So I dont even look at WEI anymore its crap. -
Incidentally, all your comparisons to the GMA950 seem a bit mistaken; the M133O comes with either the nVidia 84000M GS with 128 MB dedicated GDDR3 RAM or the Intel X3100 integrated graphics with, obviously, no dedicated RAM.
The 8400M GS is a serviceable graphics card that can even handle HD video editing.
While it's certainly not a 9800 GTX, the 8400M GS does give you a usable, if far less powerful, dedicated graphics alternative, whereas the X3100 is really not intended to handle more than basic business productivity and light gaming.
share RAM with nVIDIA 8400M GS
