I just ordered a dell from Dell canada and it said on the order sheet that i'd get it within two weeks so the 28th, but when i ordered it i immedietely get an email saying i'd get it on the 31st as an estimated date, this is annoying becuase it crosses over to when i need my laptop for school, should I call in to product care and complain asking for compensation or speeding up my order or should i just wait and assume the date of arrival will arrive sooner?

Yes, and you'll more than likely get upgraded shipping and some kind of compensation. However, if you REALLY need it, you shoudl cancel and get a prebuilt one because it's probably not going to come anytime sooner.
-
give them a spray!
-
i agree, if you NEED it by then you should go for a prebuilt laptop. -
If you're counting on a built to order machine from online in an exact 2-week window, you waited too long.
If you need it in 2 weeks, go to the store and buy one. Otherwise wait and be happy it's only 17 days and not 90. -
I ordered mine yesterday from Dell Canada, and it has an ETA on Aug 31, though the rep told me it'll arrive probably around Sept 4. Now that the ordering is over and done with, I'm itching to get it in my hands.
-
wow i just called and now it said its coming "the middle of september" the hell?? and no compensation or faster delivery is possible....
so now do i just wait and sit on my thumbs
the point is they gave false info on when the delivery was coming right before purchase, and then tells you the truth of when its actually coming right AFTER you purchase with an email. -
What laptop are you looking for? I know of a Vostro 1520 that shipped and arrived within 8-days of placing the order and it included specs similar to mine.
-
Well, since it's delayed even longer, you should definitely be able to get compensation out of it... why wouldn't you, considering now it's getting closer to a full month wait. But at this point, you really should go for a prebuilt one if you don't want to wait that long.
-
well its all misleading since i ordered a color that didnt say it would be delayed, the excuse they gave me was that its "Back ordered" and the parts aren't in yet, but it seems to me the managers just gave them that as a prepackaged excuse for the customer.
i really couldn't settle for a prebuilt one after i spent so much time researching the parts that i picked for my current order.
ya i'll probably call back, any ideas on what i should say? -
mine said it would take 3 weeks to make. it came in 10 days.

I don't know why there are so many idiots here that need to tell someone if they should call and complain????? What do you also need people to spoon feed you? You are a grown up and can make your own decisions right? Even if we tell you not to, are you going to listen? NO! Because you already made up your mind and have nothing better to do then waste our bandwidth!

when I ordered my notebook the rep told me 2 maybe 3 weeks when the order went through the ESD was 6 weeks, but the system actually came in less than 2 weeks and this was for the XPS m1330 which some people who ordered before me are still waiting. I also live in Canada.
should I call in and complain?
