I have an estimated delivery date of Aug 15th, but I'm really concerned browsing this board that I can't really rely on this. I just can't believe that NO ONE has gotten theirs yet!

To be honest, I don't much care about the "coolness" factor of the M1330, the color options, built in webcam, etc. I mostly wanted it because it would be highly transportable, and because Dell led me to believe I would get it sooner than a Lenovo. Is there another comparable laptop that I could get sooner? Can anyone suggest a different laptop that I should look at? And I'm curious, if you've decided to put up with the two month wait time, what is it about the M1330 that makes it worth waiting for??? What should I do?????

I think 2 people on the board have received their m1330. Check the m1330 owner's thread

Thanks, maybe that's true, and in that case,, I'm very happy for the two people who got theirs! But the owner's thread is buried behind pages and pages of people whose orders have been delayed or cancelled. It just doesn't seem promising! I'm still interested in cancelling.

And I bet I'm not one of them!!! Seriously, though, isn't there any other laptop that is similar that I would get sooner?

I ordered my m1330 on the 28th of June.

I was so fed up with Dell and their seriously incompetent customer service representatives that I canceled my order and bought a MacBook Pro. I just went to the store and picked it right up, same day.

They offer great discounts if you're going to be a student next year. They give you $200 off the purchase price instantly, a free 4GB Ipod Nano ($200 value) through rebate, and a free printer ($100 value) also through rebate.

MacBook is very powerful and looks amazing. It runs a little hot, but that's the only downside of it.

You might want to look at the regular MacBook. It's the same size as the m1330 and if you're not going to be doing any serious gaming or graphic card intensive software, it should be a great purchase. It's not too expensive and it definitely looks great. The only downside would be that EVERYONE has one, hehe.

If you don't like Macs, you could always go with Sony. They have nice looking portable laptops as well.

Honestly, waiting that long for the Dell laptop is ridiculous. If they weren't ready to launch it, they should've just waited instead of making all of their customers anxious/pissed off about their orders.

    Just my opinion though

No, I don't do gaming, so really it's just the weight and screen that are important. The macbook is looking appealling, though I'm a professor so I worry about compatibility issues with student papers. I'm sorry this is such a stupid question, but can you run microsoft office on a mac? Also, how is the heat with the macbook?

Ah, you're really tempting me now. I could just go to the mac store right now and have a laptop??? that's such a bizarre thought after all this waiting.

I'm just really curious before i cancel my order what is so special about the M1330 that makes it worth waiting for. I was really excited about it, but there must be many other laptops that are just as good, right?

I think one guy EDT was 8/24 but already in boxing stage so call Dell ask true status and may be tell them you are going to cancel then Dell may give you better EDT.
Which Lenovo are you looking? Sony SZ and Apple Mac book are good 13.3in choices.
I like M1330 because 13.3 size, Led backlight, 128M 8400GS, 1.5Ghz CPU(slower the better) and good driver support.

I had a T41 before that I liked, so I was looking at the T series, but I liked the idea of getting something a little lighter.
I'm very curious about the Sony SZ, why did you choose the M1330 over the Sony? It has an LED screen too, right?

    Thanks, pmayo!

It's scary to think of switching to a mac, but I'm going to look into it!

It has LED but not HDMI, 128M 8400GS, 1.5Ghz CPU (slower the better) and good driver support.
Sony has dual GPU that save battery life. I wish M1330 has dual GPU support.

Do keep in mind that although they're both the same screen size, the MacBook is about a pound heavier.

I would not cancel the order. I was just in the same situation. I called Dell and received the best service I've ever gotten from them. Not only did they upgrade my shipping, I also got the messenger bag for free. I was absolutely furious after this week. My order has been stuck in "build" and then they begin offering the messenger bag. I was ready to cancel, but more than happy to wait now

Actually, I called to upgrade my shipping, and I was totally willing to shell out whatever it cost to get it faster, and they upgraded it for free without me even asking! So anyone who hasn't upgraded their shipping, you might as well try, who knows if it will make a difference, but it can't hurt.

Hmm, a pound actually does make a difference for me since I travel so much. Why did you guys choose the M1330 over the Sony sz? The sony is lighter, isn't it?

    Pros--
LED Display -- the SZ6 is not out yet and who knows when it will actually ship. I considered a SZ491 and this could still be an option, as is the T61
Dell's Customer Service for repairs is 100% better than SONY (believe it or not)
Graphics 128 MB... Sony claims 128 but it is only 64mb
    Better quality keyboard.
Sony has a Wifi/Wlan antenna that is sure to break

    M1330 Negatives -
No built-in modem (I still need this for some third world countries I travel to)

Another alternative is the m1210 -- they still build them and you can also get a refurbished one from the Dell Outlet. My last two notebooks were purchased through the outlet.

I've heard there's a lot of heat from the macbook, though that's from other people on this forum.
I'd say go with a Sony Vaio, a small Asus orrrrrr... a Zepto? Though I haven't looked into those. The vaio is a nice option.

    Hope that helps!
