I have that same computer with the Ultrasharp display and 3 year complete care warranty with accidental damage coverage.

Both upgrades are good in my book. I didn't like the upgrade to the glossy screen at first, but now that I know I'll really only be using my computer inside, the clarity, sharpness, and high resolution of it really make me glad to have the upgrade. For me, the upgrade was only 70 bucks, though, as I ordered through the healthcare section.

I'd say get a warranty depending on how long you want to use your computer. I went with the 3 year because I want this computer to get me through college. And then I added the 75 dollar upgrade to accidental care coverage because **** happens, and I want to be covered :)

Definitely upgrade the screen to SXGA+
The warranty for 3 years is only 130$, so may be worth it, though I oudbt they will replace laptop for a dead pixel (for this they require somehting like 7+ dead pixels or something)

thanks guys. i think i'm definitely upgrading the SCREEN.

but still unsire about the warranty.

wearetheborg, you think they'll only do replace with the 3 Yr Return to Depot Service with 3 Yr Complete Care and 3 Yr Tech Support [add $299 or $8/month1]
    Ultimate Peace of Mind
    ??

i was so fixated on this $299 one that i didn't even notice the $130 for 3 yrs without COMPLETE CARE.

No, I doubt they will replace laptop with 1 or 2 dead pixels no matter what the warranty.
The only difference witht the complete care package, I think, is that they will cover u in case you drop the laptop, spill water on it etc, basically accident insurance.
Thats what I gleaned form the dell website.
But if its a hardware failure through no fault of you (HDD fails, motherboard gets fried, and you havent dropped laptop or spilled anything on it) then they will cover it with both warranties.
I personally am very careful with my laptop, thus I chose not to get the complete care package.

Also, even with complete care, they will *repair* or replace at their discretion. Call them up for details
