    That makes me wonder, if thats for the broadband modem cards, can we use that to actually read sim cards? Ive seen memory card readers with Sim card readers built in so you could get your contacts off of them, could this be used to do that also?

    The SIM slot is for the mobile broadband card (if you get it installed).

    My Vostro 1400 has a SIM card slot. I didn't pay any extra for it, and don't really have a use for it. I wonder if its active or not?!
