I have the xps 1210 with a 1.66 core duo and 1 gb ram. I am suprised that this thing is on the slow side. It also freezes quite a bit.

I dont have lot of programs, no viruses.

    Any ideas?

Sounds a little strange, I've had nothing but good things to say about my m1210 which seems to be just as fast as my desktop. If you've done a fresh reinstall of windows it sounds like you might have a hardware issue. But try running msconfig and disabling all the background processes that load on your PC as well.

I'd use memtest and see if you have a bad stick of ram or potentially something wrong with your harddisk. I'm hoping your still covered so that any potential hardware replacements will be cheap.

Ah, my M90 has slowed down quite a bit in startup/shutdown since I got it due to all the apps I have installed now, ranging from 3dmark05 to Office 2k7 to Solid Edge. It just happens. It's still fast once I get booted though. I would also suggest running some reg cleaners regularly. You will notice a HUGE boost in performance after you use them. I use CCleaner and Regseeker. Makes things much snappier.
