Hello,
Dell Inspiron 1545 with Vista
Slow keyboard response, letters don't keep up with my typing.
Any solutions would be greatly appreciated as this is driving me crazy.
Thanks in advance.

You might try disabling the PCM Service. Stop the service and then disable it in the startup.
This worked for my Vostro. -
Anyway you could walk me through this for Vista.
Thanks again, much appreciated. -
-Use the Run command (the search box in start) and type msconfig
-select the Startup tab
-uncheck PCMservice
-reboot
If you want the PCM service to run again on boot, then go back into msconfig and recheck it.
I like to use Ccleaner to manage my startup services. It is a little easier to delete startup files if you are not going to use them. -

Thanks again. -

If you check the Dell forums, there are many people having this issue on their keyboards. Most seem to be helped by disabling the PCM service which is related to Media Direct.
I deleted the service, so I cannot point you in the right direction. It should be in your system configuration under startup.
Reading all of the posts on the issue, it does not seem that Dell has really done anything about it.
However, I did find this on Dell: http://support.dell.com/support/top...5C2EFC1A1EB5865CE040AE0AB7E11558&doclang=en#3 -
Unfortunately, I could not find the PCMService or anything related to Media Direct on the Start-up or even processess page of configuration on my Vista notebook. But, it is an easy find on my XP notebook. So, I think I know what I am looking for but figure it might appear differently on the vista system.
I previously saw the Media Direct article on Dell but I do not think my system has this option of a Media Direct button.
Thanks again. -
Hey,
I have a week old studio 1555 and have the exact problem (even typing this short message is hell!) Have you found a solution?
Thanks! -
Are you on the factory install of Vista, or have you reinstalled Vista from scratch?
