I ran Media Direct and then after shutting it down I turned the OS on but it would load everything except the desktop and taskbar. So Basically I was left with a pointer and my desktop screen. I had to shut down explorer.exe and run it agian, which would work, and then run system restore.
Ever since then my laptop has not been able to run any dvds, saying something about a media decoder being missing. The thing is, previous to that mishap mentioned above, all dvd's worked flawlessly.
Does anyone know what's going on?

Sounds like a windows file could have gotten corrupted. Perhaps you could try contacting dell.

You have a corrupt file -
How do I correct this?

You need to install a DVD decoder software, like Cyberlink Power DVD, or the like. When you restored it, (im guessing with a XP cd and not the Dell restore) you got rid of dells decoder software.

Google "Media Player Classic" and try playing dvds on it.
lt's not a pretty player, but it plays dvds and alot of other formats. -
reinstall media direct and cyber link or get media player classic
something's fishy with my XPS M140
