i should be gettin my 9300 next friday...

ive been reading a lot of entries about "sparkle" in 9300 wuxga true life.... some people are saying its the glare thinging, others some white paint stuff....
i hav no idea what u guys are talkin about.....
can you guys be a lil more specific when you guys say sparkle?
my friend has the dell 700m (glare screen) and it seems fine to me... does it sparkle for 700m too? or is it jus for 9300 wuxga? cause if it sparkles for 700m, then i dont think ill hav to worry too much with my 9300... cause to me, 700m is pretty damn nice......

As a beginner, and first-time owner of the 9300, I'll explain what I've learned. (You'll see from my other post to you and the information below that I have the WUXGA+ display.)

At first glance, and for the first couple of days, I did not see anything unusual about the display. After being really picky about it, I noticed that, although the screen is glossy, there is the appearance of tiny grey flecks in the display. One person described it as looking through a screen door. Well, it's not quite THAT noticeable, in my opinion. I can see an ultra-fine "screen" effect on this thing, but you have to strain to see it. Someone else described it as flecks of grey or silver paint in a white metallic paint job. That's pretty accurate, but still a little bigger than reality. If you move your head around quickly (like in large circles) while looking at one section of the screen, you may see a very faint, very tiny "twinkle" or "sparkle." If you stand back and look out the screen window, and do the same thing, you're likely to get the same effect. The window screen grid will distort or move the light and the objects beyond it, making it look like it's moving, sparkling, or whatever. Overall, there is a slightly greyish-white appearance with this display. You probably won't see bright whites on it, which is why the grey flecks in the white metallic paint job is a perfect description.

I pretty much pay NO ATTENTION to this "feature" on my display. Doesn't bother me in the least. Is it different than my CRT monitor? Yes. Is it an issue? Not at all.

I don't know if this helps you much. I certainly hope so. Good luck.

honestly the problem has come down to people so freaked out about the sparkle on the screen that when they get it any little imperfection they will notice. I did when i first got it, then i realized im just being a dumbass and that the screen looks AMAZING! Watching movies, playing games, viewing photos of vacations, girlfriend, whatever, this screen is awesome! The glare can be an issue, but with glare the colors don't wash out! I had the I9200 with non-wuxga screen and when the sun hit it, no glare but the colors would wash out. Plus the colors stand out more clearly and colorful with the UXGA screen.

Honestly stop worrying about some little thing someone noticed and blew it into a problem that no one should have.

Be Happy! I exchanged my original (Philips/LG) and all 3 replacements (Samsung) have been exactly the same except that dvd/video now has bland, washed-out colors... gonna have to send it back...

btw, another description of the "sparkle" is that it looks like satin fabric, kinda a sheen to it... it's really no biggie once you've used it for a while...

Same w/ me -- as hard as I try, I failed to see this highly technical "sparkle" effect (sarcasm) on my I9300 screen. I thought the text were a bit small on the WUXGA display, but still highly legible imo. Really no complaints here regarding the display for me.

    cheers,
