    hi
have a problem with my dell studio 17 backlit keyboard, on post it beeps, found out its the spacebar press that and it boots ok, when e-mailing it goes erratic, like the spacebar is being pressed constantly. flashed through menu bars too, keep having to switch off. tried cleaning it, might be something jammed, but seems ok, any other ideas, do i need a new keyboard and if so is it easy to change yourself, its out of warranty now so will cost a fortiune to send off. any ideas?

Which Studio 17 is this? Is the spacebar *always* pressed, or just on boot, and erratically? If you've tried cleaning the keyboard to no avail (you should try to pop off the spacebar and look under it if you haven't already), you might as well try getting a new one. I'm pretty sure it won't be too expensive unless you have a really recent model.

Call Dell to get a replacement. I had a brand new backlit keyboard on my E6300 and the keys were going crazy, ended up replacement the keyboard and everything is dandy now.
