I have been in the market for a new computer and have decided on either a 1520 or a vostro 1500. I have been leaning toward the 1520 because of the free upgrades but it comes to 1269 when i configure it with a T7100, the 8600m GT, and the 1440x900 screen and 9 cell battery. My question is how can i use my university discount to reduce the price and if it would be possible to get the price to under $1000. I was also curious if it is worth the $50 to upgrade to a 1440x900 screen instead of a 1280x800 screen.

go to the higher education link instead of home/office to get your edu discount. i doubt it'll get you below 1k. homeoffice + coupons is basically the same thing as epp discount

I'm quite sure you can't get any student discount with the Vostro 1500 because it's meant for Small Business customers not students. Ispirons are meant for the general user, including students.

If you're in the US, you can go to Dell University website and see if your college/prospective college is on the list to get a discount.

ok well I used an evalue code to get it down to 1,049.00. This is without any other discount added. I went to the higher education site but when i tried to sign up for the coupon it said my school already participates in the program and it sent me to a page where it said i could get up to 12% off with some warranty things. Is there anything else I can do to drive the price down or is this rock bottom?

Also the vostro configure with the same specs minus the 2 gigs of ram comes out to 923. Would the 1.6 Ghz be a big difference for gaming from the 1.8 Ghz or is it minute?

Would there be any way to get the 1520 with the 1.8 ghz, 8600mgt, and the 9 cell batter to total under a grand?
