    helo,
I'm using a studio 1555 on windows 7 7100. But I can't find the Dim the Display function in my power settings. Does somebody knows how to solve this problem.
    Blas

update: I did an analysis with powercfg. This is the problem
Platform Power Management Capabilities:Adaptive Display Brightness Support
This computer does not allow Windows to automatically control the brightness of the integrated display. Installing the latest system firmware (BIOS) may resolve this issue.

Hold the 'Fn' key and press the up or down arrow keys to adjust your display brightness.

Yes but that is'nt a solution. This is a new function in windows 7. It's an automated brightness adjustement like the macs have when not in use.

Adaptive display...that's something for laptops with an ambient light sensor, like the Latitude E-series. The Studio series doesn't have that.

No, there is a function in Windows 7 that dims the display after a few minutes. It worked on my Inspiron 1420 and Studio 15 but I don't have that option on this HP. I'm guessing it's because brightness settings aren't hardwired into BIOS. I'm not sure though.

The Studio series brightness is controlled in the BIOS, though. Curious.

Maybe something went wrong during the installation, lol. I don't know. I didn't even notice that I didn't have it until I saw this thread.

    Hi,
can you confirm me that you have a studio 1555 and not a studio 1537. I hope that something went wrong during the installation. Also do you use the 32 bit edition or the 64 bit edition. Many thanks in advance. Blas

A07 was released only 2 weeks ago, so I wouldn't hold my breath.

I want functions back! I hate it when it looks like idiots did the updates!

Honestly I'm not happy that I was bated into A07 when A06 had all the functions. This is why people get mad at Dell, stupidity

the 4500MHD win 7 driver is a mess too.

Hello, I have Studio 1535 laptop and the same problem bothers me. Could anyone please give me a link of this A08 BIOS update and briefly explain the installation procedure?

    Grateful in advance! :)

Enter your service tag or look up your laptop by model number. Flashing the bios is super easy (I did it this morning) and only takes a few minutes. Just download the A08 update file and let it do its thing. Your computer will restart automatically afterwards. The latest for BIOS for a 1535 may be something different. This topic is for the 1555 model.

Unluckily, I am offered A06 version only, probably because of different laptop model. I guess this means no dim function for my comp yet. :( What if I installed A08 version given to 1555 model despite the fact that I have 1535? :/
