From power button press to everything being loaded it takes quite a while.
I installed a bunch of stuff but everything seems clean and organized.
Is it the objectdock I installed?

I think object dock is quite small, so i don't think that will be slowing it down alot.

Have you checked to see which services and apps are being loaded at startup?

    Define "quite a while".

Object Dock can take some time to load; but it is probably not that alone which is responsible.

Highly recommend the link Kendoisonfire posted; I can't remember if it says about defragging your machine, but I'd recommend that, especially after you've set your machine up as you've likely installed a bunch of applications / moved music & videos on to your machine. Something like Auslogics Defrag, which is completely free.

.....not a particularly useful comment at the moment given the cost of SSDs. A decent sized nice spec SSD could cost nearly as much as the laptop did in the case of a Studio 1555, and as such it really should not be considered by anybody other than those with more money than sense.

You could always upgrade to a 7200 RPM hard drive, assuming you have the 5400 RPM now. It's a nice middle ground of performance. Faster than 5400 RPM, not quite as fast as an SSD but not nearly as expensive either.

Now this I absolutely agree with; although 5.4k RPM HDDs can sometimes offer better performance in some areas. I myself tend still to upgrade to 7.2k drives, mainly because they are cheap as chips, and the old drives go into a caddy and get used as additional portable storage.

I doubt it will solve your problems entirely though; if your boot time is long then there is something else at work probably, but this would help.

You never actually specified how long "quite a while" is. Get a stopwatch or clock with measurement in seconds, and time it from the moment you press the power button, to the Windows desktop.

I've seen some 7200 rpms that use the same volts as a 5400 rpm I was gonna buy one but I found an 80gb ssd mislabled for $80 bucks so I jumped on it, teen cashier girl could not know the difference between an ssd and a tv tuner.
