    The studio 17 specs mention 3 "mini-card" slots. Can one of those be used to add a cardbus port to the laptop?

    Cardbus as in PCMCIA? If so, the answer is no. The "mini-card" slots on the Studio 17 are mini-PCIe slots used for doodads like WLAN cards, BT modules, or WWAN devices; you can't use these to add PCMCIA functionality to the machine.

    If you need a PCMCIA slot, your best bet is to use an ExpressCard to PCMCIA adapter.
