I haven't bought a Dell in a while, so forgive me if this question is silly.
I'm looking into the Latitude D630. When I go through Small Business, the price begins in the 800s, while under education, it begins well above 1000 (1300 or so).
Why is this? Am I allowed to buy through the small business section of the site, even if I'm a student?

Yes, you can purchase from Dell SB.
There are a few possibilities...one is that your school contract is old (and thus new prices have not been negotiated), and the other is that the school system might have a different warranty or something that the SB PC doesn't have. In any event, I do not think the final price for an educational PC order is shown until it is in your cart, so at least make sure you go that far. -
also, getting the best deal on an education computer seems to take discount and coupons and such, whereas the business ones seem priced more straightforwardly. i found the same general trend though, that when i looked at an 830 it was better in small business than in my school's options. but over the last week, I'm coming to think that the Vostro 1500 is what I'll get. I'm looking at mid-range specs and warranty, and at that level the Vostro is $1050 vs. $1300 or so for the 830.
the differences in the prices are probably because i think they're managed separately and in some ways compete with each other.
stupid question: why are notebooks cheaper for small business than education
