what are you gonna use the laptop for? Obviously not gaming. If it's a temporary laptop...why not drop down the processor speed and memory (which you can upgrade yourself for cheaper)

no gaming on this and while i do game sometimes i couldnt justify the cost for a 8400 as in a few months it will prolly be as usefull as my sager ati 9700 which is almost useless now...so i didnt want a card to eat more battery life and give more unnecessary heat, played games like fear, need for speed , graw etc but recently games now can not run on my ati as my shaders are not good enough , i tried test drive unlimited and when the race starts it would exit out the game and crash, and a game called timeshift i tried to install said my card didnt have good enough shaders........basically it will be for daily travel from home to work as my office has firewall so i wanted to use this as the wifi lets me have all internet access bypassing firewall sites..the sager was a pain to lug around , also doing some dvd burning ,encoding movies stuff like that

the coupon didnt let me go below 2gb :( and the only savings i could have done really that would satisfy would be to drop to the 1.6ghz and no camera for a total of $724....the cams only 40 and could be fun at times and the 2ghz i see as a big help for encoding ..i was only worried on hdd 5400 vs 7200 as for $75 i could get same size 160gb 7200 but was wondering the effect on encoding benefits on 7200 over 5400 vs battery life and more heat

Probably for the time its alright...but a few months ago you could have gotten that easily for 150 less.

The post confuses me, your sig says 2gb of ram yet the listing you have it says 512mb (my guess is you upgraded). Then I notice in your sig you say $499 yet according to above you paid almost double that.........

I am doubting any rep would be able to give that kind of deal.

Looks like a pretty decent deal to me, good specs for that price. I know I would have been happy with that, good work!

got it today :D its so sweet

dont really notice the fingerprint issue, it runs ice cold between 35-40 doing some dvd burning and encoding + all the apps installing, camera is fun with what has to be face recognition software as it has some silly effects stuff over my head tracking with me as i move

the screen is beautiful no dead pixels no grainyness and its not wxga just 1200x1280 or whatever

    wifi is excellent

the battery is a tiny bit loose ,doesnt bother me as it seems solidly in place though...right now i got %33 remaining estimated at 2:42 left it says , i have been on this battery for 3:30 so far with lcd at half max and i have been surfing net wifi ,installing all my apps rebooting several times , a 20 minute encoding which would have taking at least 30-40 minutes on my old laptop  and burned 2 dvd's ,i got scared when the first 1 was a coaster ,guessin software issue but i burned second with a different software and it autoplayed in dell media direct which i wasnt expecting , i thought it was gonna pop up in media player ....also had my external hdd which is a notebook drive hitachi 60gb 7200rpm attatched the whole time ,using it plenty
