the **official** studio xps 13/16 best buy order status thread

Hey guys

So I wanted to know whats going on with everybody's orders from bestbuy
I, myself ordered a studio xps 16 from bestbuy over a week ago and it is still backordered.

Please post when you ordered the laptop, what stage its in, ESD, and estimated arrival date.

did anybody order from bestbuy or was i the only one? i doubt it because theyre backordered and sold out online so spill people!

 

I ordered one on 2/4. Esimated arrival 2/19-3/4. Called BB today and they said that companies do not provide them with information for when they will get backordered items. Sure hope this doesn't turn into a 2+ month wait.

Should probably post this thread over in the Dell > XPS and Studio XPS forum since this forum is for orders placed through Dell directly. Doubt anyone who ordered from Best Buy will be looking here.

 

I ordered from BB on 2/6/2009 The last estimated ship date I saw online before the status changed to SOLD OUT was 2/25/09 ~ 3/11/09 So I'm sure I have a good 2-3 weeks left of waiting. It stinks but I couldn't ignore the price difference vs buying from Dell.com

 

alright so i went ahead and canceled my order. I cant wait another 2-4 weeks for a laptop. I am a high school student and i am carrying around a 15 pound laptop and its really getting on my nerves. I canceled the order and I am picking up the sxps 1340 either tomorrow, friday, or this weekend.

Tell me what you guys think of the sxps 1640 when it comes.

 

You should've held in there. Mine shipped yesterday and is supposed to arrive on Monday, though may be here by Saturday.

i am currently a high school student and i am carrying around a 15 pound laptop (including case and charger) and i could not wait any longer

anyways, the sxps 13 is very light and extremely portable and what i currently need is extreme portability for a good price.

 

Canadians any idea if we are gonna have this at our store?

 

VRM, I ordered mine on 02/04 as well and my ESD was the same as yours. However my order is still backordered. BB customer service guys tell me that I cant extend the backorder more than once and so effectively my order will get cancelled on 02/24 automatically.

Did anyone else get their orders shipped as well? If so, when did you order?

 

Well an update on my BB order. I ordered on 2/6 and today the credit card was processed and I was sent a notice saying it will ship within 7 days.

 

i got my sxps 1340 from bestbuy today

i am very impressed with this computer so far. It gets a little hot but not TOO hot.

I am currently downloading assassins creed so once i start playing ill tell you guys how the 9400m is

Well today I received an email saying because of the backorder my order was canceled despite BB charging my credit card yesterday. Called BB to find out what was going on and it has in fact been canceled. IMO they should never have put this laptop out there for sale if they couldn't keep it in stock what a waste of time this has been.

I guess I need to decide now if the bluray drive is worth the extra money it would cost me from Dell. Dell's base model for Studio 16 is already $100 more than BB and that's without bluray.

If you had ordered on 02/06 and had extended your backorder, the order should not have got cancelled until 02/26.

Iam having the same trouble, if my order doesnt ship by 02/23, it will get cancelled. What a waste of time, 20 days for nothing !

i knew that the same thing was going to happen to me so why waste time? i just went to bestbuy and bought a sxps 13 and it runs perfectly

My final post in this thread but I couldn't wait for BB anymore and ordered from Dell.com I did call a Sales rep though and managed to get $80 off. Not really the savings I was hoping for but it's better than nothing.

 

i ordered my dell studio 16 xps laptop on 2/10/09 from best buy ... today is march 4th and i still haven't received it ... no-one at bestbuy can tell me when it will ship ... i am very frustated with bestbuy and dell for not informing customers when the product will ship ... this is no way to treat a customer in my opinion ... will this thing ever ship ?? ... i'm tempted to cancel my order and take my business elsewhere ... what are folks experiencing ... should i hang in there ?? thanks
