Latitude D400. How can I tell exactly which power supply I need? I have a PA-12 5U092 that is 65w. There are at least 11 different power supplies for this laptop. Some 65w and some 90w.

I don't have the original power supply

Well if you know your Dell uses a 65W power adapter, then stick with that rating. You can find spare power supplies on eBay or through a quick google search.

look at the bottom (where the sticker is), it will say something like this:

    INPUT 100-240v~1.7A (1,7A) 50-60Hz
    OUTPUT 18.5v (18,5v) 3.5A (3,5A) 65W

inbetween the 18.5v and the 3.5A it will have what looks like an equals sign, but the bottom line will be a series of dashes instead of a solid line, to indicate a DC output!

Just make sure you buy one with the EXACT same output ratings, and input ratings that will work in the country you wish to use it in and you'll be fine!

Just get a 90w adapter if you're unsure.

All you have to do is make sure the voltage is correct and the current equal or greater.
