Do you guys think it will be replaced with anything better anytime soon (for the m1330, inspiron 1420, and vostro 1400)
I plan on getting the m1330, but I've read a lot of stuff stating the 'inferiority' of the 8400gs in comparison to some 7series cards( I know the 8400gs can run dx10 though but i doubt it could run any games that use dx10 primarily).

I totally understand the m1330 is not a gaming laptop, and I don't look at it in this manner at all. I am just curious as to see when nvidia or ati would release stronger cards for smaller laptops.

If you guys have no clue, thats fine too, i just wanted some feedback.

(btw, do you guys think the 8400gs could run team fortress 2?) how well?

Well, the 8600m GT fits into a 14" notebook just fine (Asus f8sv).

The 8400gs is very capable of playing team fortress 2, but only with low res.

I run TF2 maxed out on my M1330.

There are videos on youtube of many games on the M1330 running t medium or even high settings including the system killer Crysis.

I'm happy with the 8400 GS

The 8400 GS works just fine for me. And I'm sure Dell will have a better video card, but not any time soon.

If by low you mean no AA or anything sure. I can play 1280*800, med/high pretty easily. But no reflections.

The 8400 GS can play Elder Scrolls Oblivion quite nicely, if that gives you an idea. About medium, medium-high for me.

Knock the 8400 GS all you want, but it has been rockin' COD4 pretty darn well!

the 8400gs has been handling Unreal 3 pretty well with highest resolution

the 1330 should be getting a better graphics card in jan/feb and i hope mine will be ugradeable

The 8400 GS in the 1330 is interated into the motherboard. So, if there is a different video card option next year, you would have to buy a completely new motherboard (which would be VERY costly).

the gddr3 version that comes with the 1420 and m1330 is also a great overclocker, people have raised its core/memory clocks by several hundred points with stable results

    r u kidding or high?

its a DEDICATED graphics card...meaning not integrated...meaning its an actual card in the PCI-E slot...

Ummm, you need to pass me the joint :)

It is using a dedicated PCIe slot, but it is INTEGRATED into the motherboard. Don't believe me?

Open it up yourself and see, jackass - BEFORE telling me I am high.....

Meaning it is dedicated... meaining it is also soldered onto the damn board.. meaning STFU

    Wow, guys.

You need to tone it down. This isn't the place to argue or call eachother names.

    Take your sillyness elsewhere.

And one more thing COD4 doesn't look half bad on that. And it's damn smooth.

I heard about that, though I'm not too sure they will implement new cards right away on the m1330 or any other laptop for that matter

That release on digitimes was for the desktop cards, not the mobile part. You can expect low-mid range mobile parts to follow the desktop release. As far as high-end, who knows. Nvidia's been pretty slow to release high-end mobile parts until well after the desktop counterpart (due to power/thermal requirements).
