No...legally OEM licenses are tied to that computer. Technologically...probably not since Dell's CD will most likely have a built in "are you a Dell" checking program.

I think you are not supposed to use the bundled OEM DVD/CD to install on non-DELL PCs, but technically speaking if you have a valid key then most probably you can (it works with XP OEM CD).

    We had this question earlier.

night_2004 is absolutely correct for all purposes.

If you can get the OEM disc to work on another notebook, and you WIPE OUT vista from your m1210, you can use the COA from your m1210. I don't see a problem with this, ASSSUMING that your copy of Vista that came with the m1210 is being used only on ONE notebook at any given time.

I heard that if you try to use it with 2 machines online at the same time thier is a security feature that will boot one out and give you limit access. is this true?

As long as that computer is a Dell then yes you can, I am currently using Windows Vista Ultimate although I didn't get it with my system but I got it from my friend who just purchased an XPS system :).

If the computer is a DELL and it has a new enough bios you will be able to install vista. No activation will be needed if vista examines the SLIC table in the BIOS and finds that it is a DELL. (m1210 needs to have A06. The best way to know whether you'll be able to install vista is to look at the SLIC table in BIOS and see whether it is 374 bytes long)

However, even if you can install the OS and it will show up as activated on a DELL machine, it is ILLEGAL to do so and you will not be able to upgrade to SP1 when it is released. To upgrade to SP1, you need a COA key located at the bottom of the laptop on the COA sticker.
