    Hi everybody,

I'm from United Arab Emirates, my brother bought for me a Dell laptop. After a couple of months the screen has problem sometimes and suddenly it colored with different color sometimes red other time green while the laptop is working normally. Because I don't have much information about computer I thought this problem isn't serious but before about two months my friend saw the problem and said that it is very serious you have to take it to the company.

Now my nightmare began. I took it to the company (Emirates computers) they returned it back to me after about two weeks they said that the problem is solved because we changed the LCD cable but after one week the problem happened again. I took it to Emirates Computers again and I said to them to change the whole LCD and they changed it as they said!!!!

BUT after that the problem again so I called them back and they said to me we will change the mother board as well as memory!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I took it to them and as they said they changed the mother board and memory but can you imagne that the problem happened again!!!!!!!!

I started to fight with them and they allways give me stupid excuses!!!!!!one day they told me that it is my problem!!!!!!!!!!

I asked them to give me a new laptop but they refused, they said that my warrenty will finish soon so they can't

also I called the customer service they told me that what they know is the in this laptop only the memory and the LCD cable but the technical support told me different things!!!!!!

my advice for the people in the UAE to avoid buying any laptop which its warrenty is under Emirates Computers because they will live in a nightmare for ever!!!

    thank you

Wow, that's horrible. It's really bad when a company can't repair a laptop and then as their solution to the problem tell you to get lost. Which Dell laptop is this, did you buy it online or from inside this shop?

There are no online shops in the UAE, which is very annoying about the place. All that technology but most stores dont have websites and when they do they dont have prices or their sites are 6 months old! Not many laptop options either but yeah you have to go in store to find out prices an stuff.

I agree customer service here sux, and dealing with people who cant fix anything is clearly frustrating (thats how I got into IT in the first place, had to fix my own PC in the end!). The laptop should have been replaced long ago, there is clearly something they have overlooked and its probably something small.

well i was planning to buy an dell laptop too.....namely the inspiron 6400.....but eventually i ended buying the hp pavilion dv5000t from jackys till now the customer support has been excellent for me atleast and overall im happ with the laptop if u would like to know the latest pricing on goods i recommend the jumbo site which is www.jumbocorp.com
well what emirates computers did to you is completely unfair and i would suggest asking for a full refund or a replacement before your warranty runs out
    best of luck

Did you buy the system directly from Dell? If yes, blame Dell for anything.
But if there is another company involved (re-seller) it's quite hard to say who's fault is it.
Are you sure they changed anything on your system? If you're having the same issues...

Have you tried updating the video card driver first? Could be that all along or maybe a defective video card.

TBH, they've exhausted their checklist of things that could wrong and are now hoping you'll either a) go away or even better (for them) b) buy a new laptop.

I agree with getting a refund. More than likely they did nothing to repair the unit. It sounds like you have malfunctioning lcd units within the panel, which a replacement should fix. Get a refund and buy from someone else who can provide a functional unit.

of course that is easier said that done. the legal system here isnt very helpful so I very much doubt she will ever get a refund and all she can do is fight with them til they do something.

@shahaeenarshan, the problem with UAE websites is obvious, their product range is out of date. I was hoping for an update but I can see theyre too lazy for that.

well most of the sites arent updated that often thats true for example the emirates computers site itself is a mess i couldnt navigate through it properly too without me getting lost quite so often and their product range is daated more than an year back well its true the legal system in dubai is a bit difficult on thse kind of issues,.......
have you tried the credit card company they maybe able to help you
or atleast draw back the funds or sumthing like that...............or why dont you directly talk to dell itself i heard they are there in techno city you could call them up and tell them of your problem if you arent sure of the number you can always call 121 directory service
sorry i cant be of much help though
    anyways all the best

    Hi Viola,

Hmm, it seems that the one who handle you problem doesn't know what he is doing. Actually when the screen is changing the color they need to check of the followings. LCD, LCD Cables, Inverter Cable, Inverter and last is the main board. To isolate if your motherboard works fine , if your notebook have the options for external VGA output just plug a monitor ,if theres an output and the color are working fine, your mainboard is okay. Usually base on my experiance i usually change the inverter most of them in IBM and Acer laptop that we are dealing here in Riyadh. The technology in Laptop most them are the same , they change only and upgrade to make the performance works fine and more sufficient in display view, etc..

I feel bad about what happen to you cause they escape about your problem. It is not about the brand , it just happen that the person and company that handle your situations does not know what solutions and procedure to be done. If still warranty they need to repair your unit and beside it is one of the error in a laptop.

HMM , next time look for another company who hadle the warranty, for sure there's a lot of business partner of DELL in UAE.
    Regards.........
