so. i was thinking to replace DELLS (normal/budget) thermal paste to some fresh Artic silver 5 or might some new other stuff.
.........i know (for 100%) that you will get about 7-10 C less heat on the CPU with new paste...(done it before, and every time much better temps)
wondering if DELL still use this budget thermal paste ????
test between AS5 and this new floating metal liquid pro.

...after been reading a bit it says it very hard to get rid off liquid pro after been using it on the cpu/gpu/chip....... my choose: Artic silver !
Coollaboratory Liquid Pro is made of (Gallium)...costs about twice as AS5.

I have used Artic Silver 5 for all my computing products and I love it. I don't really trust this Liquid Pro stuff until I read more reviews. Stick with the Artic Silver.

I have had the same tube of artic silver 3 for many years now. The stuff is cheap and last for ever.. so just plunk down a couple bucks on it on your next rebuild and be happy.

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
As long as thermal paste is spread properly, very thin layer then it will do the job. The difference between the best and worst TIM isn't more than 2-3C which won't make a huge difference. Spreading it wrong however will (too much thermal paste is the worst possible thing).
-
how would be the proper way to spread the paste on the cpu and gpu?

Can you use thermal paste on newer Dell's? I just got a new 7720 but I've have two other Dells over the years (previous one 4 years old now) and they had thick "pads" of thermal compound and you had to use copper shims to fill the gap created when you removed it. Is this no longer the case?
-
of course..............replacing the paste is a big positive thing for getting less heat..........a nice spread of artic silver 5 is always good.
-
Dont you need a thermal pad or tape for the gpu though or can you just use artic silver 5 on both?
-
I find the biggest issue with the stock paste is it tends to dry out fairly quickly, and is never as good as somethig like AS5
thoughts about thermal paste
