I like it... That's the exact spec I have my eye on, with the exception of the 160 GB HD. I want the 200.

Don't buy the three gigs of RAM save yourself $300 and by some from newegg and install it yourself.
    Otherwise great specs great price

I'm pretty sure he went with the deal on the 1530, which means 3gbs is the minimum RAM you can get. I guess he could call dell and see if he can get it taken off, but I doubt it.

I tried begging a sales rep to give me only 1GB on the $669 deal. No dice. I still haven't purchased yet. When I do, I'll try again, or sell the 3GB on eBay and buy 4GB on the cheap...

Are you saying that non-Dell memory voids a warranty?

I think if you open up your computer to replace a part yourself, your warranty is voided. I think.

I thought many manufacturers made exceptions for items such as the RAM and hard drive. If you're worried, you can probably call Dell and ask. And if they say that it will void the warranty, well, that's a load of BS, but you could probably then carry out the replacement, hold onto the 1G stick, and pop it back in if you ever need warranty service done on the machine. Who's to know?

If you replace RAM and HD yourself, the RAM and HD won't be covered but other parts will be convered by warrenty. If you somehow damage your computer in process of replacing, or if the replaced RAM and HD somehow damage your computer, computer won't be covered. I believe this is what they are saying about the warrenty.

your Xps 1530 looks good. I think you should take a second look at the battery option. the 9 Cell make the laptop bulky a bit . the deal to have both is really good.
